Transtainer has been manufacturing UN and ADG approved IBCs (less than 2000 litres) for a long time now, but this unique project required manufacturing of UN/ADG approved 2000 litres IBCs protected inside a DNV approved cage for transportation.
The project was started in April 2012 and was completed in December 2012.
There were many challenging aspects of this project right from fabrication through testing and approval to fabrication of a compliant product.
All the challenges were overcome and solutions were provided. The IBCs were built and tested in Adelaide while the cages were fabricated and tested in Melbourne with the help of DNV approved fabricator.
The IBC prototype was fabricated first to go through NATA approved destructive and non-destructive testings and approval was granted through SafeWork SA for UN/ADG licence.
The cage was fabricated as per DNV requirements and tested for weldment and DNV approved labels and stickers.
The final product manufactured were up to the ADG and DNV standards and client’s requirement.
